Sean -5Ca
The 5th Grade class at PES did an All About Me slide show. We used a digital camera to take a picture of us. We brought pictures and scanned them onto the computer. We made an Title slide, Vacation slide, Family slide, Crazy about slide, and Baby slide. I learned how to do animations and how to do my timings. I liked putting pictures in my project.
Internet Safety Tech Talk
Samantha- 5Co
The fifth grade classes at PES have been working on an Internet Safety brochure over the past month. First, we took a test on Internet safety on FBI-SOS. Then we made an outline on Inspiration 6. We made a brochure with Microsoft Publisher. We used different websites from the FBI-SOS Scavenger Hunt. The brochure included rules, pictures, work cited, and what we did. We got graded on pictures, grammar, punctuation, and spelling. I learned how to make a brochure. I also learned how to copy and paste Internet sites on your brochure. I had a lot of fun doing this brochure.
Monster Exchange Tech Talk
Morgan- 4W
The 4th grade classes have been working on a Monster Exchange project. In 4W, we drew a monster in Paint and named it. Then we made steps in Word. Mrs. Megli gave us someone else’s steps so we could draw theirs and help correct their words to make it easier to draw. If you want to see our monsters go to this website. http://pestech.weebly.com. We drew monsters to send to our partners in New Jersey. I learned how to make good directions. The thing I liked about doing this was drawing the monsters.
Skittles Tech Talk
Ella-2B
The 2nd
grade classes at PES just finished making a Skittles graph. Mrs. Megli came into our classroom and helped
us sort colors of Skittles. Then we went
into the computer lab. We went to the Excel program. Then we made a graph and printed it. I learned how to make a graph. I liked seeing how many colors there were in
the classroom.
Christmas Around The World Tech Talk
Olivia- 5CA
The Fifth Grade classes have been working on a project called Christmas Around the World. This project was about learning how different countries celebrated Christmas. We used a lot of programs like PowerPoint and Inspiration, and the websites, Bibme, and Infoplease. We each made a PowerPoint about three countries and how they celebrated Christmas. The most interesting thing I learned was probably that in Costa Rica, they decorated banana trees instead of a traditional tree. The thing I liked most about this project was learning about different countries.
Fun Words Tech Talk
Brody 4W
The 4th grade classes at PES have been doing a project on Fun Words. We used websites to find out about the Fun Words we worked on. We also used PowerPoint to make a slideshow. Our class had to write down examples to go with our Fun Words. The Fun Word my partner and I did was a stinky pinky. A stinky pinky is a riddle and the answer is two rhyming words. What I liked about the project was we got to put together a slideshow. What I learned in this project was I never knew about a stinky pinky. I had lots of fun with this project.
Green Turtle Tech Talk
A.K.- 5CO
The 5th grade classes have been researching different species of turtles in computer class. My partner and I have been researching the Green Sea Turtle. We’ve learned a lot about the Green Turtle. Did you know that the Green Turtle can also be brown or tan? For this project we used these websites and programs to help us with our project: Power Point, Inspiration, Internet, and Word. We also had to make pictures of our turtles. My partner, John, made a green turtle on the Paint program. I drew a green turtle on a piece of paper. I loved learning about my favorite animal.
Iditarod Tech Talk
Hailey - 5Co
The 5th grade classes at PES have been learning about the Iditarod in computer class. First, we each picked a musher out of a box (I got Aaron Burmeister). Next, we each got a packet about our mushers to fill out; we had to mark down information about the musher at every checkpoint. While we were filling the packet out, we were also filling out a weather spreadsheet; we used Excel, and afterwards, printed it out. After we finished tracking our musher on the packet, we filled out an “Idita-Hunt” about information on the Iditarod. Once we finished that, everybody made a slideshow in PowerPoint. I learned a lot about the Iditarod during this project; like the Iditarod was originally used as a mail route and to transport medicine. My favorite part of this project was tracking the musher and learning the rules for the Iditarod. I hope we continue to do more interesting topics.
Iditarod Tech Talk
Sydney - 4J
The 4th grade classes at PES have been learning about the Iditarod. The browser we used was Chrome. The programs we used were Excel, PowerPoint, and Inspiration. First we were assigned a musher. Then we had to go into Chrome every day and check where our musher was at. We would also check the weather our musher was having. Next we would go on our musher’s website and write down facts about him or her on Inspiration. When the race and our facts were finished, we would go on PowerPoint and copy the facts down. When the PowerPoint is finished, we share it with our class. During this project, I learned that racing in the Iditarod is very hard. I also learned that the weather in the race is different in other places at the same time. The thing I liked the most about this project was doing the PowerPoint.
